How to check if two Instagram accounts follow each other

A direct relationship has two directions
To confirm a mutual follow, verify that account A appears in account B’s followers list and account B appears in account A’s followers list. Checking only one direction proves a follow, not a mutual relationship.
Manual method
Open the first public profile, search its Followers list for the second username, then reverse the check. Be careful with similar display names and renamed accounts; compare exact usernames and profile URLs.
Relationship-report method
A complete follower-and-following comparison can label each visible username as mutual, follower only, following only, or absent. Search the report for the second account and verify when the snapshot was collected.
Limits to remember
Private lists, blocked access, deactivated accounts, and incomplete scans can prevent verification. A shared-connections label on Instagram is useful context, but it is not the same as checking the direct relationship in both directions.
